Welcome to the new site, I hope you like it and will stick around for a look at what I’ve created.
It’s been a busy year, I became a Grandmother to a gorgeous little girl in January and was very blessed to be at her birth, her name means star and may she shine brightly.
I was also in London to help look after my mother who has sadly been overtaken by Dementia and to give my daughter, who cares for her, a much needed break. Then, at the end of February and therefore before my flight back to Brazil in March, my husband Neu was admitted to hospital in Fortaleza, where he still is, though hopefully he will return home soon.
With all that’s been going on, I was delighted to be able to take part in an event organised by the Women’s group in Prainha, just ten days after getting back from London. The coordinators of the event organised every aspect of the day, with the aim of bringing together a number of women in a holistic experience, focusing on self care, community and ancestral roots.
Project, Re-enchanting Prainha do Canto Verde
It was a beautiful, and for many, emotional day.

We were led through various exercises by Flavia from Terapias de Bom Viver (Therapies for a Good Life) and Dannuta from the DF Academy and Clinic.

Towards the end of the morning we all chose a card from a pack and read the inspiring message to the group.

Acceptance.
God is perfect in His work, and I, as part of that, am perfect as I am. I accept myself, I love myself, and I don’t conform to external standards because there is inner beauty that transcends the exterior. I am who I am, and when I accept myself, I strengthen the divine and the beauty that dwells within me.
We had a talk by Karina from *ICMBio who also led us in a workshop to celebrate our roots, identify things we want for the future of Prainha and things we can do to realise those hopes and dreams
Two women from Project Betania gave us wonderful relaxing massages throughout the day, that was a lot of women to work on. Towards the end of the event we all sat in a huge circle on the lawn for foot baths with fresh basil in the warm water. While we all closed our eyes and relaxed, they came and gave each of us a foot massage. We were really pampered and it was wonderful.

A huge thank you to all the women who helped make this day so special, hopefully we can do it again soon!

From the looks on everyone’s faces, I think it is safe to say that we all thought it had been a wonderful day!.
Below is a short film of the day
The Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio) is the federal agency responsible for creating, managing, and overseeing Extractive Reserves (RESEX) in Brazil. As a category of sustainable-use protected areas, ICMBio’s role in RESEX centers on balancing the protection of natural resources with the sustainable livelihoods of traditional populations, such as rubber tappers and artisanal fishermen
